Every birthday deserves a proper New England sendoff: a one-pound steamed lobster with drawn butter and sweet corn on the cob, on the house. There is exactly one rule, and it is a hard one: it has to be your actual birthday. The date on your ID has to be today's date. The day before does not count. The day after does not count.

How It Works
Show Your ID
Your server checks the date and that is the whole test. No age limit: whether you are turning eight or eighty, the lobster is yours.
Claim It, Crack In
Your server or bartender points you to the quick claim — about a minute on your phone — and the kitchen gets to work: a one-pound steamed lobster with drawn butter and corn on the cob. Bib optional, strongly recommended.

Your birthday means your birthday. The date on your ID has to be today's date. The day before does not count. The day after does not count. The weekend after definitely does not count.

Dine-In Only
The lobster is eaten here — at a table or at the bar, lunch or dinner, all day. No takeout, no delivery. Come hungry.

The Claim Happens
At Your Table
There is no form to fill out ahead of time and nothing to print. When you are at the Shack on your birthday, just tell your server or bartender. They will point you to the quick claim, you show your ID, and the kitchen takes it from there. That is the whole ceremony.
